Char Cady Social Emotional Learning (SEL) ENDOWMENT for Special Education at Central Middle School
Charlene Cady was a retired Special Education teacher for the White Bear Lake School District. For over 30 years, Char made a difference in the lives of students in the Central Middle School Special Education Program helping students to develop social emotional awareness, thinking skills, and behaviors to be successful. Char had a strong and positive effect in the lives of special education teachers at Central Middle School as well by championing and encouraging their everyday successes. Char recognized that her students and colleagues truly matter.

Selection Process: The White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation’s Program Committee will review the Char Cady Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Endowment for Special Education at Central Middle School applications and make recommendations to the White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation (WBLAEF) Board of Directors for final approval.
Award Range: Up to $750 in funds will be awarded each school year (September 1 - August 31). Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis throughout the year until the maximum of $750 per year has been awarded. Projects will be funded for twelve months. After 12 months, any unexpended funds will revert to the White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation (WBLAEF).
Eligible Projects: All projects must enhance Social Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities for Central Middle School special education students in a manner that champions and encourages their everyday successes.
Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum that promotes social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies necessary for academic and life success such as: resilience, self-management, and responsible decision-making skills.
Field trips, Artist-In-Residence, and other activities that support SEL.
Furniture and equipment that enhance and promote SEL.
Individual student grants to provide experiences to increase SEL competencies.
Terms:
Expenses are reimbursed after submitting a reimbursement form with original receipts to the WBLAEF office. CLICK HERE to submit the reimbursement request.
Evaluation: A written results-based evaluation of the project or a 3 to 5 minute presentation to the Foundation Board is required within two months of the project’s completion. Evaluations or presentations must be submitted or arranged with the WBLAEF office. CLICK HERE to submit the evaluation.
